2. Conventional / routine ‘open’ spine procedures
   Though today a lot of open spine procedures are carried out in a minimally invasive way, with lesser degree of trauma to normal spinal structures, there is still a room for the traditional open spinal surgeries.
   These become more relevant in elderly patients who have a highly degenerated spine with distorted anatomy because of neglect over a period of time. Also those patients who have failed to derive desired benefit from first spinal procedure are potential candidates of open spinal procedures.

3. Here a keyhole incision is given over the affected site and the same procedure is carried out as in open spinal surgeries, with a lesser extent of trauma to the native normal spinal structures.
   To list a few :
   • MIS spine fixations

   • MIS decompressions using tubular retractor systems
   • Percutaneous balloon kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty
4. Endoscopic spine procedures :
   By utilising highly sophisticated and dedicated instruments ,an incision as small as 8mm is given over back to introduce a camera to view the spinal pathology as close as possible , and to allow their removal.
   Such procedures are invariably stitchless and lead to almost same day discharge of patient back to home, as we call a ‘Daycare’ procedure.
   A lot of back pain and disc problems are now being treated endoscopic ally which has revolutionised the outcomes
